What does Jesus want you to do?

By Nick Bibile

John 6:28-29 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.

Did Jesus ever say, you need to earn your salvation? No. He never said for us to earn our salvation. Earning salvation is working for Salvation, but Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished.”

Jesus paid the price on believers behalf on the cross, He did the works by his obedience to the Father, keeping all of the laws which we have violated.

Now what do you have to do? Simply by faith trust Christ for your salvation. Does it mean we don’t have to do any works? Works is not the way for salvation, but the result of your salvation. We are made righteous before God vertically and the true Christians produce fruits of the results of that salvation, where we are justified before men, horizontally.

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
