TRYING TO OUTSMART GOD IN THE FLESH

By Nick Bibile

When king Ahab, king of Israel came into power he defeated the Syrians twice. Then for three years there was no war between Israel and Syria.

Then king Ahab met with Jehoshaphat the king of Judah and they wanted to go to war against Syria over Ramoth-Gilead, they consulted 400 prophets and all agreed in one accord they will have victory over their enemy. As they knew in the previous two wars Israel defeated the Syrians.

However the true prophet of God Micaiah predicted they would lose the war. Then they seized Micaiah the man of God and put him in prison. Micaiah told Ahab the king after the war if he returned in peace, then God did not speak through Micaiah.

Now Ahab got nervous, if Micaiah was right he cannot come in peace as he would be killed. So Ahab tried to outsmart God, tried to be more clever than God, and went into crisis management.

He told the king Jehoshphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your robes.” And the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle. (1 Kings 22:30)

By disguising himself he thought no one will notice him as the king and he would not be a target to be killed by the enemy, so he can outsmart the prophecy of Micaiah.

You can never outsmart God as he sees everything, see what happened.

(1 Kings 22:34) But a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate.

So the king died (1 Kings 22:37)

Do not go according to the flesh, do not go against the truth, and when things are not going well do not go into crisis management trying to fix the problem in your flesh, trying to outsmart God’s truth, because you will be a loser. Repent in humility before God.

Majority of the popular prophets 400 of them were wrong, but one was right, it means always the majority is not right, majority will take the broad road and only a minority will take the narrow and difficult road that leads to heaven.
