Having Intimate Fellowship with Unbelievers

By Nick Bibile

Dinah was Jacob's only daughter through Leah. Dinah was Jacob's darling being the only daughter. God had told the Israelites not to have any relationships with pagan nations as they were lawbreakers of God's commandments and God did not want the Israelites to be tempted into sin.

Dinah the young virgin girl was tempted to leave her house go out to see the world. Dinah's virginity was safe as long as she stayed at home. When you wander out of God's flock, you are going into danger zone. As Dinah began to wonder away from home, now her virginity is not safe.

She met Shechem, a son of a Canaanite, a pagan, an unbeliever. At first glance Shechem fell in love with Dinah and he raped her and she is not a virgin anymore, she sinned against God.

It's very easy to fall into temptation when you are having fellowship with unbelievers. Unbelievers curse God, take God's name in vain, they drink, smoke and live an ungodly lifestyle, instead of a godly lifestyle. They live far away from God; they are in the kingdom of darkness controlled by the powers of darkness – Satan.

Jesus did not separate himself against unbelievers, he did eat and had fellowship but he never sinned, he did not partake of their sinfulness, he showed the light of God to a dark world, as Jesus proclaimed God's word, those who believed in him were drawn to him and others mocked him

We need to take the example of Jesus; we can go out into the world but never partake of their sins.

Ephesians 5:7-11

Therefore do not become partners with them; 8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
