God is glorified by your confession of sins

By Nick Bibile

Joshua 7:19 Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and honor him. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me.”

A humble true confession of sins exalts and glorifies God. Because free grace is magnified, when we realize we deserve punishment for our sins, without hiding our sins, confess to the Lord, God loves that humble heart and God is glorified.

Many will deny their sins and blame someone else, like Adam and Eve, but a true confession will clear the conscience as God forgives the sinner and glorifies God. How does it glorify God? Father sees the cross where his Son took the punishment on behalf of the sinner, it glorifies God because the Son is exalted for what he did on the cross.

Remember the thief on the cross, his confession of sin?

Luke 23:40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Prodigal son when he realized he was lost and sinned, he confessed his sins.

I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. (Luke 15:18)

Beloved, we all have sinned against God of heaven, let us confess all our sins, including your darling pet sins, don't hold on to them, they are a trap by the enemy to steal your soul to hell. Would you like to glorify God? Glorifying God is not only praising him but also confessing your sins. So you can have peace with God.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness – 1 John 1:8
