The Bible is our Standard

By Nick Bibile

The Bible, the word of God, is the highest standard of authority. The Bible will not conform to the authorities of the world, science of the world, cultures of the world or standards of the world as God's word cannot come down to man's wisdom, God is infinite and man is finite. We must uphold God's standard in our daily lives and confront the world.

God has revealed his will to man through the Bible where we must obey and live.

2 Timothy 3:16-17  All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

The word of God is not a dead book, it's living and active. That is why even the worst sinner, who is dead in sin, can become alive because God's word, alive as it says, it's breathed out by God.

John 6:63  It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

There is power in God's word only if we faithfully believe and obey his word.

Moses said, the word of God is not just empty words.

Deuteronomy 32:46-47 he said to them, “Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law. 47 For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

2 Peter 1:20-21 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Apostle Peter said, although it was written by man, the word of God did not come from man's interpretation but God spoke through these prophets as the word of God was from the Holy Spirit. In short it was not the will of man nor the interpretation of man but the will of God was revealed in the word.

Now we have the word of God easily accessible for us to read, meditate and study, it was given for us to know the truth and for our instruction and the Bible should be treasured in our hearts as we will not fall into error or temptation of the enemy.

Romans 15:4  For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Matthew 4:4 “‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Normally we eat three meals a day, if we miss a meal we may feel weak, how much more the word of God! More important than our physical food, we need to read, meditate, study and digest to our soul so we can glory our Father in heaven through Jesus Christ. .
