God is El Shaddai

By Nick Bibile

Ge 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Abram with his calling, when he was brought out of Ur of the Chaldees, and separated unto the Lord in Canaan. When he believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. But how quickly Abram fell into sin by listening to Sarai’s advice as went to Hagar. When there is sin at the bottom of every wicked thing there are low thoughts of God. How soon Abram forgot the promise of God. But God was merciful to Abram and he will not break his covenant. He appeared to Abram and said, I am the Lord Almighty, meaning El Shaddai, all sufficient one, walk before me and be blameless. What a reminder to Abram.  Beloved when we fall into sin how we need to be reminded by going to the scriptures and hearing the word of God.

Abram is on his way to a foreign land, he is surrounded with strangers and enemies. He didn’t have a map, car or a GPS to guide him. Now when he was 99 years old the Lord appeared to him and said for the first time, I am the Almighty God, meaning El Shaddai.  Abram you may be surrounded with strangers and enemies and you are a pilgrim but I am Lord Almighty, meaning all sufficient, infinite in power. God is the omnipotent protector and provider to Abram.

Today we are living in a hi tech world as we depend on everything on the computer, cell phone, car to travel, even the GPS which gives directions. These are not evil things to have but how we need to realize God is our El Shaddai, he is all sufficient for us, he is infinite in power.

We lowly creatures should fall on our face with fear and reverence to his holy name. This is what Abram did. When God introduced him as El Shaddai, he fell on his face.

Psalm 89:7 God is greatly to be feared.

I am so little that I shrink into nothingness when I behold the Almightiness of God.

“I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” We need to be thoroughly sanctified for the Master’s service. We must first realize how big and awesome our God is, and need to understand he is the all sufficient glorious God of the universe.

Think big of God my brothers and sisters. If you think little of God, you will trust little and you will have little obedience. But if you think big of God you will trust more of God and obey more.

If you have a business and are having difficulties, and you believe that your God is El Shaddai, he is all sufficient to carry your business through during difficult times, then you will not practice tricks of sinful acts, craftiness and greed.

If you are poor and you see rich wealthy people around you, don’t be envious of them, believe that God is a sufficient portion as you have the eternal wealth preserved for you in heaven.

If you believe that God is all sufficient for your spirit, then you will not look for pleasures of this world. Maybe multitudes will go after the vanity of the world but God is all sufficient for your soul and brings joy to your spirit.

Oh, my beloved be content as long as God is yours, get comfort as God is El Shaddai, he is unchangeable in his strength, God is God forever and ever he is sufficient for you in all situations, fall down at his feet and worship him.
