The reason why Jesus became a man

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8)

He was the most beautiful angel, but pride entered into his heart. (Isaiah 14:12-15)

¹² “How you are fallen from heaven,
O Day Star, son of Dawn!
How you are cut down to the ground,
you who laid the nations low!
¹³ You said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
above the stars of God
I will set my throne on high;
I will sit on the mount of assembly
in the far reaches of the north;^[a]
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’
¹⁵ But you are brought down to Sheol,
to the far reaches of the pit.

The great arch angel Lucifer was so magnificent and beautiful pride got into his heart and he wanted God’s throne, he wanted to become god. God kicked him out of his angelic rank, from one of the highest of angel’s he became the devil, his skill is deception, he was able to deceive a huge number of other angels, and these fallen angels are called demons. The devil is so mad and furious that he deceived God’s finest creation, Adam and Eve, God in his sovereignty allowed it to happen, God knew out of bad something good will happen.

Luke 22:31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat,

Satan influenced Pharaoh and killed all the male born infants of the Israelites, Moses escaped the death, and then later Satan influenced Pharaoh by trying to kill all of the Israelites.

In the book of Esther, Haman tried to wipe out all of the Jews as the devil influenced Haman. The devil knew Jesus would come from the Jews. Then we see Antiochus Epiphanes a Greek king who reigned over Syria from 175 BC until 164 BC, who brutally persecuted the Jews, even sacrificed a pig in the altar of God. Who was behind it? Satan.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. ² She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. ³ And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. ⁴ His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. A. T. Robinson, Greek scholar held that the apostle John must have had Isaiah 7:14(virgin shall give birth to a son) in mind. Even more, under the direction of the Spirit, he knew Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a son is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace; The reference in Revelation 12:1 to the sun, moon, and stars indicates a complete system of government and reminds us of Genesis 37:9. God has caused royal dignity to rest in Israel in the line of David. The number 12 appears with the 12 patriarchs, 12 disciples, and 12 thrones Satan used Herod as his instrument an attempt to kill the infant Jesus, but God who is in control provided a way out.

Jesus said, And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. (Luke 10:18)

Ephesians 2:2 says he is the prince and the power of the air, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says he is the god of this world and has blinded the minds of the unbelievers.

Now Satan and all his fallen angels the demons are roaming around the earth, looking for souls that they can devour.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Why did God create you? He made you for Himself. He created you so that you can love him and worship him, that’s why the first commandment says, you shall have no other gods before me, then the second commandment says you shall not make for yourself a carved image for worship, however, Satan and his demons wants worship, do you know when you bow down and worship any kind of image you are worshipping demons?

Revelations 9:20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk

The devil’s goal is to make you and I sin against the Lord, how does he do? By temptations same method he used against Adam. Basically we can divide sin into two headings. 1. Sins of commission – where we break the commandments of God, when God tells us things not to do but we do and break the laws of God. 2. Sins of omission – means when God tells us to do certain things we don’t do it. God tells us to pray, witness, study his word, worship him.

The devil and his demons are very intelligent beings are well organized and they are on a mission, working day and night, their goal is that you would commit sins of commission and sins of omission. Puritan John Owen said, “Satan's greatest success is in making people think they have plenty of time before they die for spiritual things.”

Satan doesn’t want you to attend church on Sunday. He will find some important things that you need to do, or make you lazy. Why do you go to church? To worship God. Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, ²⁵ not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

He doesn’t want you to read and study God’s word. He and his demons will tempt you to do other things. The devil and his demons know your weaknesses, and they will constantly attack your weaknesses. Satan hates the Bible, God’s word; he will try his best for you to stay away from God’s word. If the enemy cannot make you bad he will make you busy so you don’t have time for the Lord. What is the use of having a Bible in your home if you don’t read and study? Charles Spurgeon said, there is dust enough on some of your Bibles to write 'damnation' with your fingers.

The word of God is called the double edged sword, it is the offensive weapon we have against the enemy. Don’t just read the Bible but suck the word of God to your soul and let it soak and absorb into your heart! draw life from the scripture so you can apply to your life.

When you do that the word of God becomes a part of your life. The Bible is not the light of the world; it is the light of the Church. But the world does not read the Bible, the world reads Christians! “You are the light of the world.”

A very rich man had a party in England. He had four servants. He invited his servants to receive gifts. He gave them a choice, will you have a Bible or money, for the sake of our Filipino culture I would convert the English pound to Pesos, so he asked the first servant would you like to have the Bible or P1000, the first servant said, “Sir I am not a good reader so I will have the money.” Then he asked the second servant, the second servant the gardener, the gardener said, “Sir my wife is sick so I will have the money P1000, then she asked the maid, the maid said, “sir, I don’t have time to read the Bible, but I can use the money.” Then the last was a young boy, he asked the boy would you like to have the money so you can buy some nice clothes or something from the store for you to enjoy or the Bible? The boy replied, “"Thank you, sir; but my dear mother used to read to me that the Law of the Lord was better than thousands of gold and silver. I will have the Bible, if you please." The rich man said to the boy,” "God bless you, my boy! And may your wise choice prove riches and honor and long life unto you!" when he opened the Bible and inside there was an envelope and inside there was P20, 000 pesos! The other servants realized of their worldliness over the word of God.

The devil and his demons will work hard so you will not pray to the living God though Jesus.

Someone said, the devil trembles when he sees the weakest believer on his knees praying. Many of you have enough time for worldly things but no time for prayer, the devil will prevent you falling on your knees to our God almighty. The great reformer Martin Luther said, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” John Bunyan said, “Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.”

Satan and his demons hate whey you adore God and give praises to him. The enemy cannot stand when you start praising God, sing praises to God. Remember Apostle Paul and Silas were flogged and put in jail but they sang praises to the Lord and there was an earthquake and the Philippian jailor got saved!

2 Chronicles 20:22 And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed.

Colossians 3:16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

We are told to witness of our Lord Jesus to our neighbors and friends, Satan and his demons will put a gun to your head and say don’t ever tell others about the true Jesus that you worship. He will makes you nervous and not allow you to tell your friends and neighbors of Jesus. C.H Spurgeon said, "Surely it is an intolerable disgrace to anyone to profess to be a Christian, and have no concern about the souls of others, while they are perishing by millions."

“God save us from living in comfort while sinners are sinking into hell!”

If you are celebrating the birth of Jesus, what can you give him? Is it that you can sacrifice and come to church, is it that you can sacrifice and give him some time? The Bible says, obedience is better than sacrifice. (1 Sam 15:22)

Don’t ever let Satan and his demons fool you, as they can use your own family members, your best friend and friends to influence you, he can even use you. See Matthew 16:21-23

When you are busy for the Lord, doing the work of the Lord, Satan will influence other people discourage and stop your service to the Lord. How many people started serving the Lord here, and where are they now? Read the book of Nehemiah, he was busy with his fellow Jews building the walls of Jerusalem. The enemy got pretty upset, the devil used Sanaballat and his friends, they made fun of the Jews building the wall, they mocked and ridiculed them. Nehemiah and God’s people started praying and continued building the wall, they carried weapons in one hand and used the other hand for building the wall. Then Sanaballat sent messages to Nehemiah, come down from the wall, let us have a meeting. But Nehemiah said, I am carrying out a great project and I will not come down. The enemy continued sending messages four times but each time Nehemiah gave the same answer. The wall of Jerusalem was built in 52 days! Even the other nations were afraid as they knew this was done by the help of the Lord!

If the Lord is with us who can be against us, our Lord is the captain of the host, the rose of Sharon, the lilly of the valley, he is the king of kings and the Lord of Lords. The battle belongs to him!

If you are a committed Christian, the demons cannot posses you as the Bible says you are the temple of the holy spirit, also in 1 John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The enemy may hares you, mock you, give you a hard time but your soul belongs to the Lord, that is only if you are a committed Christian

Satan and all his demons will end up in the lake of fire and his goal is to take you with him there. He is mad, he is furious and he wants to destroy many souls as possible. Now think about this, angels are higher than us, but when angels sinned against God he did not forgive them, God did not become an angel and die for them. But when man who is much lower than the angels sinned, is God obligated to save mankind? No, God is not obligated to anyone as he is God and he could have just allowed all of us to be ended in the lake of fire as all of us deserve as the Bible says we have sinned against God. However God in his mercy decided to send a Savior who would undergo the punishment that belongs to us, this is called amazing grace that saved a wretched sinner like me. How can I not obey God for what Christ had done for me, remember every breath you take is from God.

I don’t want you to leave here with a defeated mode because of the devil, why did Jesus come? He came to destroy the works of the devil, yes, there is an enemy but he was defeated at the cross, Jesus said at the cross, it is finished, he accomplished his mission, he said, in John 16:33 In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” We have a victorious Lord and Savior, he is risen from the dead! Our Lord reigns in our life!

Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God!
