Genesis 6:7
So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the air…..
Sin was the cause for the flood. There was a great population of the world at this time and as the population grew sin began to grow and spread all over.
What is sin? Breaking the laws of God. ( 1 John 3:4)
God decided to wash the sin away with water. It all began with one man’s sin. One man could easily multiply thousands of sins. There were many sins that would reach up to heaven. Lawbreakers everywhere, wickedness and rebellion, godless people all over.
God gave mankind time to repent. Mankind lived for a long time. It took Noah to build the ark about 120 years.
While Noah and family began to build this huge boat, people may have mocked Noah for building a boat, as during this time there was no rain. People would have thought how can you use a boat on dry land? Noah could have been the laughing stock.
I am sure people flocked to see this building project as they have never seen anything like this, and for 120 years Noah preached the gospel to the people, while building the ark.
2 Peter 2:5 And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.
But Noah was not discouraged by the insults and jokes thrown at him, he focused on the ark, kept on building and kept on preaching repentance.
Finally when Noah brought pairs of all the animals and Noah and Family got inside the great boat, people had their last laughter, as God shut the door of the ark.
Genesis 7:16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.
God opened the fountains of water from heaven and people who mocked and laughed at Noah flocked to get inside the boat and it was too late for repentance as God shut the door.
It rained heavily non stop for 40 days and 40 nights until the whole world was covered with Water. Sins of the world were drowned in water and millions of people perished who refused to repent. Only Noah and family were saved. (8 people)
Today we are living in Noah’s times. People are not serious of the gospel. They are too busy with no time for God. Jesus said the following
Luke 17:26-27
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
[27] They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Beloved, where do you stand? Are you outside the ark without reading and studying the Bible, without God or are you inside the ark having daily fellowship with God?
