Can Christians Fall into Deep Sin?

Genesis 9:21

He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent.

Who would ever think, Noah the Father of the new world, lying drunken in his tent? The preacher of righteousness who obeyed and followed the Lord, now drunk and naked at his tent. He was righteous before the flood, now he is unrighteous and fallen into deep sin.

Who would ever think of King David who was after God’s own heart sleeping with Bathsheba then involved in killing Bathsheba’s husband.

Who would ever think, the disciple closest to Jesus, Peter denied Jesus three times.

Yes my beloved, when you become a Christian you are not quarantined against sin. There’s a real powerful enemy always looking, laying traps to deceive who is on God’s side.

Before the flood Noah worked tirelessly in obedience to the Lord, but not his task is over, no more flood, Satan the deceiver never rests in his temptations. Noah is resting but Satan never rests, probably speaking to Noah’s mind, just relax it’s all finished you deserve a good drink so you can rest.

When we think the fight is over, now we can have peace. That is the time the enemy is at his best as we take our focus away from God and rest.

Every strong Christian can fall into deep sin, like David, like Peter who denied the Lord. But God in his mercy will never allow his elect to perish, as there’s forgiveness to those who cry unto God in confession of their sins.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:1

Christ Our Advocate

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

We need to live a humble lifestyle thinking we are weak. We daily need his precious word for our life. Daily we need to fall at his throne in prayer.  Whenever we take our eyes away from the Lord we fall into sin.

Once the Christian is recovered from deep sin, he or she will understand the grace and the mercy of God, will understand the genuine love of God. I am weak but my God is strong, he is the rock of my salvation. All the glory goes to God alone.

Pray daily asking the Lord for help, that you will not be led into sin and delivered from the evil one. Remember we need to be humble before the Lord, we are weak creatures and we need the Lord to protect us.
