Sins of Social Media
By Nick Bibile
This is a subject even many pastors will avoid to
preach but my heart is burdened to tell the truth.
The devil and his demons are constantly busy tempting many people,
including Christians are spending hours and hours daily on Facebook,
youtube, Instagram and chat
programs. As a result many Christians have no time to read and study God’s
word, no time for prayer, no time for meditation on God and no time for God’s
service. How can you love the Lord Jesus
if you don’t have time for him?
Mathew 22:37 “‘Love the Lord your
God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all
your mind.’ This
is the first and greatest commandment.
1 Corianthians
16:22 If
anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed!
Today many Christians are addicted to social media.
People are so addicted especially to Facebook,
that they have become slaves to sin in Facebook and
not a slave to God. First thing when they wake up and during the day and before
going to bed they check their Facebook page. I know I
am telling the truth and, the truth is going to hurt some of your darling sins,
you may not like me, you may hate me, but how can I not tell the truth when God
Almighty sent his Son to declare us the truth.
So my brothers and sisters don’t allow the Facebook
to take control of your life, one you become strong in the word, you should be
able to control Facebook not the other way around.
In 1 Corianthians 6:12 apostle Paul said, “I
have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I
have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.
Remember our life is very short,
Psalmist said 90:12 “teach us to number our days” Because of our days are short
on this earth and there is evil all over, apostle Paul said, we need to be wise
and redeem our time. (Ephesians 5:15-16). Do not allow
your worldly friends to influence you.
Psalm 101:3
I will not look with approval
on
anything that is vile.
I
hate what faithless people do;
I
will have no part in it.
4 The perverse of heart
shall be far from me;
I
will have nothing to do with what is evil
Also 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company
ruins good morals.”
Remember we
are living the end of last days and because of social media and other high tech
devices flooding the markets and everybody is busy with them, there is greed,
porn, gluttony, envy and so many temptations, and it’s going to be extremely
difficult to be a Christian these days, unless you are getting soaked in the word
of God. Jesus said in Luke 9:23 Then he said to them
all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up
their cross daily and follow me.
Do not
allow your flesh to take control in your emotions and feelings, but the more
you get soaked in the word of God and pray, you can crucify those fleshly
desires and deny your flesh, picking up the cross is to suffer, yes, you will
have pain and suffering in your flesh when you give up those darling sins. We
need to remember the warnings of our Lord when it comes to temptations.
Mathew
5:29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away.
It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to
be thrown into hell.
Use
the social media as a tool to evangelize and bring others to Christ, use it to
the glory of God and not for you.
