Thou shalt not commit adultery.

The seventh commandment
I was listening to a radio program when a
listener asked a question on the 10 Commandments, his question was do we have
to use the 10 commandments for evangelism so the sinner will be
convicted. The co-host who is a very popular pastor said, there are some
who use the 10 Commandments for evangelism but he cannot find anywhere in the
New Testament how the apostles used the 10 commandments for evangelism, it is
the Holy Spirit that convict the sinner. When I heard this statement I
was deeply hurt as there are thousands of people popular preachers among the
evanglical church today and many are going to believe his answer. Apostle Paul
said, if not for the law I have not known sin. (Rom 7:7)
Sin is violating God' law.
1Jo 3:4 “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth
also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
The moral law, the 10 commandments will show us
how to distinguish between right and wrong. The law cannot save us but
will show that we are utterly sinful and cry out to God for mercy in true
repentance.
Marriage divinely instituted by God.
Heb 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the
bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
God instituted marriage in the garden of Eden.
Marriage is a creation ordinance given by God and is thus practiced by all
mankind. No mere man would ever have ordained such a relation. After God
created the heavens and the earth, then the animals he created man out of the
earth. Then God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I
will make him an help meet for him.” (Ge 2:18 ) Then Adam named all the
animals and there was no animal that was suitable for him. God caused
Adam to a deep sleep and God did a surgery upon Adam and took a bone out of his
body and created the woman. What was the reaction of Adam?
Ge 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my
bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken
out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father
and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
There was only Adam only one but now there were
two, Adam and Eve. Then through marriage they became one again.
Mr 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his
father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so
then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
Even after the fall the marriage was blessed.
Ge 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons,
and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
The first miracle of Jesus ministry happened at a wedding.
The following sins prohibited.
Adultery.
Adultery occurs when a married man or a woman
has a relationship with another person.
1) It is breaking the marriage-oath. The
covenant of marriage is broken, in the presence of God they were married and in
the presence of God they broke the covenant. This is a great crime
against God.
Jer 29:23 Because they have committed villany
in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have
spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know,
and am a witness, saith the LORD.
Adultery brings great dishonor to
God. God says, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' The adulterer sets
his will above God's law, tramples the commandment of God.
Mt 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever
shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to
commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth
adultery.
Adultery injures the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. The Father gave you life and gave you a job and wages. If you commit adultery you are spending God given money to the devil. The Son purchased you with a price and you belong to him but if you commit adultery you are going to another. Apostle Paul said, 1Co 6:15 " Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid." Also It is injurious to God the Holy Ghost; your body is his temple. 'Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you?' I Cor 6: 19. And how great a sin is it to defile his temple! . The devil is called an unclean spirit. Luke 11: 24. The adulterer is the devil's first-born; he is unclean.
Divorce
Mt 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put
away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another,
committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit
adultery.
Divorce is not commanded in the Bible.
But is only permitted in the Bible, only in the case of adultery. It is
the termination of the marriage bond. The two persons become “one flesh”.
But this union is dissolved by adultery, for the adulteress becomes one flesh
with the adulterer. Thus she is no longer one flesh in union with her husband,
but rather she absolutely breaks the bond and covenant of marriage. And when
she breaks the bond she also absolutely destroys all the obligations and duties
which accompany that bond.
If the one spouse commits adultery, then the
other spouse will try his or her best to reconcile the matter and forgive and
to heal their marriage. But if the spouse who committed the adultery is not
opened in confessing his or her sins and does not want to reconcile, the party
that is not guilty is free to file for divorce and free to re-marry. Then
who ever marries the guilty party who committed adultery is also guilty in
adultery, as this is double adultery.
Unbelieving husband or
wife
1Co 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord:
If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with
him, let him not put her away.
1Co 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him
depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath
called us to peace.
Incest
Incest is having sexual relations with close
relatives. This includes brothers and sisters. Parents and children,
grand children. (Le 18:6-18)
TELEVISION
Our society is being influenced by TV rather
than the church. TELEVISION, the most devastating brainwashing device ever
unleashed upon humanity. The TV is the instrument for the destruction of
the soul. Television controls 90% of the average person's thinking and
behavior. Most of the romance and sex on TV are between people who are
violating their marriage bonds. There is FORNICATION and ADULTERY! in color.
Typically, U.S. children begin watching television at a very early age, sometimes as early as six months, and are fervent viewers by the time that they are two or three years old (Murray, p.1). The amount of time that American children spend watching TV is astounding: an average of four hours a day, 28 hours a week, 2,400 hours a year, nearly 18,000 hours by the time they graduate from high school (Chen, 1994, p.23). In comparison, they spend a mere 13,000 hours in school, from kindergarten through twelfth grade (Chen, 1994). American children spend more time watching TV than any other activity, besides sleeping (Chen, 1994). By the time the average American child is six, she will spend more time watching TV than talking to her father in her lifetime (Devore, 1994, p.16).
TV is pagan idolatry. There is manifestation
of sexual love, rape, foolish talks sexual jokes, flirting, sexual behavior,
lust, violating the law of God, worldly music, dancing which is of pagan
origin, sit coms and romance all these things are portrayed in living color
with real people. If you are watching these and having vain pleasure will not
inherit the kingdom of God. "Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ,
and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature"
(Rom. 13:14). If you are a true Christian you will not walk as the pagans
walk. Adultery makes a person resemble the beasts; therefore the adulterer is
described like a horse neighing
Jer 5:8 They were as fed horses in the morning:
every one neighed after his neighbor's wife.
Eph 4:17 This I say therefore, and
testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the
vanity of their mind.
1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things
that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is
not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust
of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world.
Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye
not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore
will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as
strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1Th 4:7 For God hath not called us unto
uncleanness, but unto holiness.
Sodomy
Sodomy is against nature. Men having
sexual relationship with men, women with women and a human being with an
animal.
Ge 19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto
him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto
us, that we may know them.
Le 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he
lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely
be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Ro 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto
vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that
which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the
natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men
working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of
their error which was meet.
Fornication
This is unlawful sexual relationship between
two unmarried persons.
1Co 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man
doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against
his own body.
19 What? Know ye not that your body is
the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are
not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Polygamy
The word poly means many; this is to have more
than one husband or wife, to be married to husbands and wives.
Ge 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the
name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
Mt 19:5 And said, for this cause shall a man
leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be
one flesh?
1Co 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let
every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
Concubine
This is a man or a woman who cohabits, living
together without being married. This was allowed in ancient Greece and
Rome. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, unmarried couples account for over 4
million households in the U.S., nearly ten times the number in 1960. In 1960,
there were 90 married couples for every cohabiting couple, by the year 2010, if
the present trend continues, there will be
only 7 married couples for every cohabiting couple.
1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them
marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
Joh 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no
husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and
he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
Premarital sexual behavior.
A person that is engaged should not
engage in any indecent sexual behavior. A good example is Joseph and Mary.
Mt 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on
this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came
together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just
man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away
privily.
Sexual gestures of
flirting.
Mt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already
in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee,
pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of
thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that
cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised
with covetous practices; cursed children:
Wearing sexual clothing that brings temptation
to the opposite sex.
What ever that is in the heart comes to open;
the heart is manifested on what you wear.
Lu 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of
his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil
treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance
of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Filthy sexual jokes.
1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications
corrupt good manners.
Col 3:8 But now ye also put off all
these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Lustful thoughts and imaginations.
Sexual fantasy, lustful thoughts are an abomination
to the Lord.
Mt 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil
thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and
blasphemies:
Pr 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are an
abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
Punishment
1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous
shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with
mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Eph 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger,
nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance
in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words:
for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of
disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with
them.
Re 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and
the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
There is no TV, worldly music and
pornography in Hell. If you get sunburned it hurts, or burn your
finger, it hurts. What about throughout eternity every second, you will
be burning in hell, not for a moment but for eternity, you cannot call for
help, there is no parents to help you, no doctors, no emergency to rescue you,
no pastor can help you, as you had all the time on earth to repent but you did
not take it seriously, you even came to church and and read the Bible but there
was no true repentance. You will be tormented day and night without rest in the
lake of fire forever and ever. You will be thirsty and will be screaming for
water but there is no water. Jesus said,
Joh 4:13 ..."Whosoever drinketh of
this water shall thirst again."
Application
In marriage there are principles and duties. The duty of the husband is to rule. 'The husband is the head of the wife.' Eph 5: 23. The head is the seat of rule and judgment; but he must rule without evil in love and discipline. The general duty on the wife's part is submission. 'Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.' Eph 5: 22. Abraham's wife Sarah had much reverence and obedience to her husband. 'Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord.' I Pet 3: 6. In marriage there is mutual affection living together faithfully according to God's holy ordinance. There is sincerity and honesty combined with love.
As a soldier for Christ we get wounded and
all the wounds we get go to the honor of Christ. The adulterer also
wounds, but no honour to his name buy shame.
Pr 6:24 To keep thee from the evil woman,
from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine
heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Pr 7:25 Let not thine heart decline to
her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded:
yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going
down to the chambers of death.
Hate evil, and cling to the word of God.
Ro 12:9 .......Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good. The word abhor means, extremely hate.
The enemy is within ourselves, and if we do
not watch the uncleanness in us will control us. Always be awake! in the
spirit of God. Hide the word in your heart so you will not sin against
God.
2Co 7:1 Having therefore these promises,
dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and
spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Flee from sin and run to God in prayer for
strength. Humble yourself in the Lord and cry out to God in fasting
prayer and feeding the soul with the word of God, that will cleanse your soul.
Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O
God; and renew a right spirit within me.
