Incommunicable Attributes of God

1. God is self existent

He is independent in His Being. He is not only independent in Himself but causes everything else to depend on him.

All things exist through him. Ps 90:2, Acts 17:24

God is independent in His thought. Rom 11:33-34

God is independent in His Will Dan 4:35 Rom 9;19 Eph 1:5 Rev 4:11

God is independent in His Power Ps 115:3

God is independent in His Counsel Ps 33:11

2. Immutability of God

God is absolutely perfect, his purposes, knowledge and plans doesn’t change. Mal 3:6, Ps 102:26-28, Isaiah 41:4, 48:12

There is a change in his relation to man but there is no change in His Being. If Scripture speaks of God repenting, changing, His intentions, we need to remember this is only an human way of speaking. In reality the change is not in God but in man in man’s relations to God.

God is unchangeable in his purposes in decrees. There is a purpose for everything and a time for that purpose, God has determined all those purposes. Heb 6:17-18, the counsel of the Lord stands forever Ps 33:11 Isa 14:24 Eph 3:11
