The Resurrection of the Body
By Nick Bibile
Daniel 12:2 And
many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
This is going to be the most amazing event
which is going to happen, soon. Our God is omnipotent, nothing impossible for
the Lord. We as Christians overlook this subject and I hope the Lord Almighty
will open your spiritual understanding.
God created man out of the dust of the
earth, but when we die our bodies are reduced to dust again. Then out of that
dust, God Almighty can create an awesome, heavenly body!
Just imagine those believers who had died
thousands of years ago, maybe during war, maybe in the sea or the land, some of
the bodies may have become fertilizer for the plants, some dissolved into
different particles.
Just to tell you a true story, John
Wycliffe who lived during the thirteen hundreds translated the Bible into
English. Roman Catholic church was furious but
couldn’t do anything to him as they thought public might get agitated. But
later in life he had a heart failure and died.
Thirty years later, Rome, dug up his body and burnt and made into ashes
and threw into the sea. Maybe his ashes flowed into different countries, maybe it became food for the vegetation plants in
the sea.
It seems like after hundreds and
thousands of years the dead bodies have been totally dissolved and gone into,
earth, air and sea and more like non existence. Yet, we have an omniscient God,
meaning all knowing, and our God is an omnipotent, meaning all powerful, what seems
to be utterly impossible, God Almighty will reunite the souls and bodies in a
second, in a twinkling of an eye, there will be a resurrection where the souls
of the dead will be united with their bodies.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold!
I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the
dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
All who died will resurrect, the believers and unbelievers according to
scriptures.
John 5:28-29 Do
not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will
hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the
resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of
judgment.
It’s the judgment for the
unbelievers and comfort for the true Christians.
Jesus said, in John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.
The resurrection of the believers is called the
resurrection of the just as the believers will rise first, this is the first
resurrection.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
It’s the first resurrection and the
better resurrection.
Hebrews 11:35 Women
received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to
accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life.
The believers who are dead will
rise first.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will descend from
heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the
sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
God is merciful for those who
have truly repented and having fellowship with him everyday
in his word and prayer. But to those who are living a life of sin will be
punished, God will pour his judgment, their bodies will be punished in the lake
of fire, there will be weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, this is going to
be eternal never ending punishment.
Non Christians and some cults do
not believe in the resurrection of the body, but to the Christian who is living
a godly life and looking forward to Christ there is great hope and comfort.
