I heard some preachers say that we can do greater works than Jesus. One pastor quoted John 14:12. How can anyone can do greater works than Jesus? But John 14:12 really says that. Please give me an answer.

John 14: 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”

Very good question. Certainly no one has ever done the miracles and healings as Jesus. Here he is not saying that we can do greater works than him but the volume, more in number. The greatest miracle is the salvation of the soul. God is the author of salvation and we are his instruments to reach others by witnessing to others the gospel is communicated and souls get saved. Jesus was limited to one location. Jesus told his disciples to go and make disciples in all nations. Conversation of a soul is greater than one being raised from the dead. This is the power of God and exceedingly great as people in China, Africa, Russia, India and different tribes are converted by the power of the gospel. Drug addicts, murderers, idolaters, alcoholics and all kind of sinners from different parts of the world are getting saved by the power of the gospel.
