IT IS A FEARFUL THING
TO FALL INTO THE HANDS OF THE LIVING GOD.
Why the natural man
will not come to Christ.
Have you ever thought why natural men will not come to God?
Jesus said, And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (Joh 5:40)
They will not come to Christ. It does not mean that the want to go to hell. No
one would like to go to hell. They have no desire to be delivered from hell,
from the wrath of God. Instead of coming to Christ, they will turn away from
Christ. Why will they turn away from Christ? Because they see nothing in
Christ, they should have a desire or value of him. But you will say I love God
and I am very religious. The most religious people were the Jews of Jesus day,
and Jesus said to these religious people, But I know you, that ye have not the
love of God in you. (John 5:42) We are not talking of a hypocritical love but
the inner love towards God, Jesus said if you hold to my teachings then you
love me. But they have no value on the beauty and the true spiritual wealth of
Christ. They do not see the grace and the perfection of Christ. Christ is
offered to the natural man in the gospel. But they are not willing to accept
Christ, as they do not want to part with their sins. They will have to part
away with the love of the world, the Hollywood movies, the stars of Hollywood,
their favorite TV shows, the beauty and the glamour of this world, the material
things that they love so much, the beer, alcohol, the parties, the fiestas,
rock concerts, dancing parties, they will not deny themselves and carry the
cross. God sent Jesus to redeem man from his idols. But you do not want to give
up your idols. You have made a god for yourself with the idols and say this is
my religion and my god will not punish me, yes, your god will compromise with
sin, it is okay with your god to continue in sin and idolatry. He is not the
God of the Bible.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come
into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds
were evil.
It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the
powerful living God. (Heb 10:31) It is the most dreadful thing. Man can be your
enemy as long as he is alive, but when he is dead, he is not your enemy
anymore. But God is not dead; he is the powerful living God. You cannot escape
from the judgment of God. The punishment is everlasting as you have been an
enemy of God. You may say no I have been coming to church, attending Bible
studies, prayer meetings. Oh, that is wonderful; if that came truly from your
heart then you will obey. Obedience is better than sacrifice. If you do not
obey then you are the children of disobedience.
Col 3:6 For which
things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience
If God was, your
enemy think of the following.
1. If you have an enemy and it is your neighbor, then later
all your neighbors become your enemy, then your friends become your enemy, your
relatives become your enemy your own children, father mother will become your
enemy, all around will become your enemy, everyone is against you, they hate
you and despise you, how would you feel? You may think it is better to leave
this world, because what a miserable situation and what a miserable place to
be. Then what about you being enemy with God Almighty? Your friends, relatives
and people around you, who are they but just dust of the earth. Think of it the
most miserable condition when you are an enemy of God. He is the living God.
2. If you continue to be an enemy of God, when you die, you
will die as an enemy of God and God will be an enemy to you to all eternity.
Think of it. There will be no reconciliation to God after death, when God
appears to you after death he will come to you in hatred, without love, pity
and mercy. Then God will be your enemy forever. My friend listen! The
reconciliation is on this life and not after death. The mediator is on this
life and not after death, there is no mediator. Think of it God being your
enemy for eternity.
3. If you continue an
enemy of God until death, you will always be Gods enemy. Now while you are
alive on this earth, there is no full force of your enmity to God as God has
restrained you from deep evil and you may look very nice to the people around
you, in your heart you will say, I am a good person, I help people and I am
kind to them. Yes, you may be good to the public as God has restrained you from
wickedness, but after death, God will remove the restraint. In hell, your true
nature will breakup without control. You will face the full wrath of God in the
fire of hell, as the divine vengeance will fall upon you. As God has removed
the restraint God will remove your outward righteousness, outward religion and
outward hypocritical love, he will take off your sheep clothing, he will pull
off your mask of hypocrisy, then you will be totally naked and your true nature
will come off like a viper hissing at God while you are tormented in hell, you
will come full force at God with cursing, all malice and blasphemies. You will
wish for a drop of water to cool you tongue but you will find none, and there
will not be any new corruption in you but the old corruption of your heart will
come out as God takes away his restraining hand. What a miserable way to spend
eternity! Think about it.
4. It is God that made;
it is God that gives you breath to live, the brain to study, a job, food to eat
and a place to live. Your time on earth is very little. One day you will die
and you will go back to dust where you came. Your life is in Gods hands. One
day he will arrest you with death. Then all your dear and the closest relatives
and friends of this earth will be departed from you, then you will stand before
God as your enemy. You are in trouble my friend. Yes when you were in trouble
on this earth, your friends came to rescue you, you have your Mom and Dad, your
best friends, now you are dead, there are no friends, you are facing God, the
one that you despised, the Bible the word of God that you did not care to
study, Jesus whom you said, you love but were not obedient to him in His word.
If you are alone and no one to help you, except God who is facing you, would
you not become his best friend as you are in deep trouble? If you were his best
friend when you were on earth, you would be the most joyous person to meet him
and to be with him as you were in love with His word, in prayer and fellowship.
But you did not have time, you were not in love with Jesus, you trusted
yourself. Psalmist said, Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the
way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put
their trust in him. But you did not want to kiss the Son when you were on
earth; you had no true love for him. Now you are alone facing him as the enemy.
You have no friends to rescue you, no power to escape, oh! How dreadful it is
going to be as God being your enemy! The time is coming when all mankind rich
and the poor will have to face the judgment seat of God. Then if God is your
enemy who will stand for you? What a miserable condition will that be, think of
it!
Job said, That the wicked
is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day
of wrath. (Job 21:30)
Sometimes you will see
how the wicked people are flourishing here on earth, they live in wealth,
comfort and much security, but God has reserved them for the day of
destruction.
Ps 37:20 But the wicked
shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they
shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
They wicked are fed now,
but there is a day of slaughter.
Isa 13:11 And I will
punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will
cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of
the terrible.
13 Therefore I will shake
the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the
LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
Jer 10:10 But the LORD is
the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth
shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
May be this message will
not penetrate into some of your hearts as now you are living in security as you
have your parents, and you adults have your husband and wife, friends, you have
a job, a home and maybe a church. But if you are one of those who does not
believe in God, or one who believes but disobedient to him, you are an enemy of
God. There is a time that you will depart from this earth with the last breath.
Then you will face the Lord Almighty. It is a fearful thing to fall into the
hands of the living God. When you meet him, either it will be full of terror or
it will be a great comfort. For the true Christian it is going to be a great
comfort. This true Christian took the narrow road, the one who denied himself
and carried the cross, and the one who endured to the end. The one who went
through many hardships for the gospel. For the true Christian it is the
greatest comfort to fall into the hands of the living God rather than falling
into the hands of the wicked men.
Take the word apostle
Paul is using here, falling into his hands is a common expression with anyone
falling into the power of his enemies
2Sa 24:14 And David said
unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD;
for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
There is still time for
repentance but you will not know when your last breath is going to be, I pray
that the Lord will awaken your soul, that you will grieve of your sins and
leave what you love, depart from sin and cry out to God, God be merciful to me.
1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in
the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the
blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
