Unless you Repent, you will Perish Also

Luke 13:1-5 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

When some Galileans were making a sacrifice at the temple, Pilot massacred them, also there was a tower in Silom and killed some people. I am going to paraphrase the question to Jesus, why did the Galileans die this way? Why the tower fell on innocent people?  Is it because they were more sinful than others?

The answer of Jesus was to the heart of man, he said very plainly, ” no, not because they were more sinful than the others, but unless YOU repent, you will perish also.

Jesus was looking at the big picture. People have a fear of coronavirus and the percentage of death of the coronavirus is very small, but what about death? It’s 100%. All are going to die one day but we don’t know how and when we are going to die as God has appointed that day for each one of us. Coronavirus has brought some fear of death. The heart of the question is, unless you repent, you will perish, not just death but also perish in hell.

Even though China is responsible for the coronavirus, God allowed it. So that people will repent and turn to God. Most of us are confined at homes as we cannot go out, we cannot work, or work at home. Beloved, it’s not vacation time, so you can enjoy your TV and social media, God has given us time to repent and come more closer to him.

Let me ask you a question, If Jesus tells you that he is going to visit you tomorrow how will you behave? I know we will have a radical change in our behavior, we will get soaked in the Bible, we will pray all the time, we will confess all kinds of our sins to him.  But if Jesus tells you, you will live up to 120 years and he will not come during your life. Then you will say to yourself, wow! I have plenty of time to enjoy my flesh! When I am really old I will repent.

But my friend, no one knows the date of the hour of our death, no one knows the date or the hour of His coming, one thing Jesus said, “Watch therefore…”  We need to live each day as it is our last day, because death comes unexpectedly, there is no time to repent after death, too late.

So my beloved friends, let us not waste our time gratifying our flesh, God sent us a warning on this coronavirus, let us live in the spirit so we can glorify God, we should be ready to meet the Lord anytime. For those who are living in the spirit, the most exciting thing is to read his love letter, the Bible, it’s exciting to pray, it’s not doing a duty but our passion to be in the Lord.  And we are looking forward to be with our Creator and our Redeemer, but those who are living in the flesh, the Bible say in Hebrews 10:31 It is a FEARFUL thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
